Specialty Curriculum

Students, beginning in Kindergarten, will be readied to meet the challenges of an increasingly global world by exploring Spanish (conversation, reading, and the written language) and the cultures, traditions, and celebrations of Spanish-speaking countries. Students will have a solid foundation by the end of 8th grade and be well prepared for Spanish in high school.

The art curriculum enables students to make authentic connections between their arts learning and areas such as science, language and culture, social studies, technology, and math. Young artists develop an art vocabulary while investigating historical works of art, artists, and global cultures. Children learn fundamental elements and principles of design in addition to painting, drawing, printmaking, collage and multi-dimensional pieces.

The science curriculum focuses on encouraging students' curiosity, creativity, and interests. The curriculum emphasizes factual information and illustrates scientific ideas through a hands-on approach. Age-appropriate skill building includes careful and critical observations, hypothesizing, conducting experiments, gathering, recording and analyzing data, and forming conclusions. Science instruction also involves both critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

The primary goal of the Music program is to broaden students’ ability to express themselves through music and enable them to gain a multicultural understanding in the process. Children are exposed to various cultures, the meanings of their traditions and rituals through music and dance. Our children develop an aesthetic appreciation of the multicultural, global society to which we belong.

Kindergarten & Primary Grades 
Students attend music sessions weekly where they are exposed to the elements of pitch, rhythm, tone color, texture, melody, harmony, form, music terminology and basic notation in a dynamic and fun-filled environment. 

Middle School
Middle School children receive instrumental music instruction and move on to participate in full band three days a week.

Walk through all of the classrooms at The Lippman School and discover that each is equipped with an interactive smartboard, enabling teachers to engage our students and create interactive, hands-on learning opportunities throughout the year and in every discipline. Technology is fully integrated into our curriculum and enhances all facets of the learning experience. With each year of growth and maturity, students become aware that technological vocabulary, awareness and skill building increases. Critical thinking and technology related problem solving skills are emphasized in the middle school years as well as common sense use of media, word processing, videography and editing. Internet safety is emphasized always. 

We employ a 1-to1 tech approach where all learners have access to individual technology. In TK-2 students have access to iPads for supplemental learning and skill-building. Students in 3rd and 4th grade are assigned Google Chromebooks for classroom use on research and writing projects. Middle school students are issued Google Chromebooks that travel with them from class to class and from school to home for use on homework assignments and ongoing projects. Teachers utilize Google Classroom for assignment organization, communications and progress monitoring. 
 

The Lippman School's Physical Education program is based on the notion that skills taught should be applicable not only in a school environment but later on in life. We want our students to be lifelong learners as well as life-long movers! In the early grades we concentrate on the building blocks of movement, spatial awareness, and fitness. Older students progress toward team and recreational sports and concepts.

Our Physical Education program offers students the opportunity to learn new activities, sharpen their skills and learn the meaning of good sportsmanship.

Indoor facilities as well as our outdoor acreage allow for a variety of physical activities as we enjoy each season focusing on the development of body awareness, motor skills, and balance.

Our program includes swimming as well as team and individual sports.
