Ohio History Goes Mobile
5/20/2015
The GAR Foundation, which funds innovative education projects in our area, has awarded our school a $14,000 grant to implement the APP-laud for Enrichment and Extension program.

Students in grades K-8 will collaborate with students from Portage Path Elementary School here in Akron, as well as with students from the Northern Cheyenne Nation in Montana, on the problem-based learning project.

The students will create a mobile app focused on the history of the Portage Path, and will generate all of the content for it. The Portage Path is significant, because native tribes used it to port their canoes between the Cuyahoga and Tuscarawas rivers. By doing so, they could travel all the way from the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico by water.
